This is the second generation PENN® Fathom® II Star Drag. The multiplier reel comes with a rigid metal frame, side plates and new features to make it even more angler-friendly than ever. The removable side plate allows quick and effective access to the gear and the HT-100™ braking system and work with it. The PENN live Spindle Design offers long, effortless casts, while the power gear ratio (only on selected models) gives ultimate torque for winching up deep fish. The magnetic casting brake is only available on sizes 12 and 15.
There are models with magnetic long distance brakes (12 and 15) as mentioned above. A further distinction is made between models with a lower gear ratio (P), with which strong or low-lying fish can be safely fished due to the better power transmission, and models with a higher gear ratio. These models are available in sizes 25, 30 and 40, with the 25 (N) models having a narrow spool.
